Outside looking in

Got a call from this little guy's daddy
on Thursday night.
He remembered that I told him,
a few months back,
that the best time to shoot a baby
is around nine months old.
The daddy was calling
on his son's nine month birthday
to schedule another shoot.
(this was the baby with the red apple
from a few months back)
Here are a few of my favs
from this morning.
I wanted to get his reflection
in the window, but he kept looking
behind us at the parental units.
I sent them outside to get his attention.
(did I mention that it was ELEVEN degrees?)
LOVE the bonus shot of them
outside with their sweet little
baby watching their antics.
Trying to mark the date,
we used the nine ball on the
pool table.
Apparently the eight ball
was more facinating,
but am happy with the
little toe shot.

The stuff reality shows are made of

I promised that I wouldn't
put any of "the dress"
on this blog - keeping with
the tradition that the groom
cannot see it before the
wedding.
However.......I couldn't resist
sharing this shot when I looked
closely and spotted the
"bridezilla" in the background.
She was mad that she tried
"the dress" on first and wanted
it back. I think she was
secretly seething that she
didn't look as good in it.
I told her I thought she
was lovely in the one she
was wearing.
It only brought a snear from her.
Will be staying tuned to that famous show.
I'm thinking she might be a good candidate.
the frames I've been using are from
Barb Uli's Itty Bitty Actions.

Familiar view

Caught Peyton looking out the window
as he has many times before.
I always wanted to capture a shot
of him, with the light streaming in.
Finally did.

King Shit-zu

Here's the real king of our castle.
The one who thinks he's the king
doesn't know that the real one
perches on his pillows the minute
he leaves for work every morning.
We keep that quiet
here in our kingdom.
Yeah, we like to
let sleeping dogs lie.
ps to young t. - how do
you like that snazzy turtleneck?

Stairway to Heaven

this shot,
with the puffy clouds,
has me singing
an old song to myself
from long ago
"and she's
climbing
a stairway
to heaven"

Let it SNOW

Had a wonderful Sunday snow day with my little buddies. Have you ever seen such a BIG snowman? We woke up to the best snow of the year this morning. Perfect for building a pal.
Speaking of pals....
check out our little Grace,
all decked out in her
Sunday best for her
first visit to church.
Love that sweet smile!

I have to confess

I had so much fun creating this little mini album from
Shimelle's mini class.
I HAVE TO CONFESS.............
it's the most I've scrapbooked in months!
What a treat and escape it was to sit in my
neglected workroom, playing with tools,
adhesives, and papers.
Thanks again, Shimelle, for the class
and the inspiration!
ps - couldn't get these all loaded on one
page so scroll down to see the rest.

♥ shimelle.com :: art & stuff from shimelle laine ♥

I confess.........this looks like a fun project!
Been playing around with shot ideas,
confessions that I would actually share,
and gathering supplies.

here's a sneak peek at one of my "confessions"

Little She

Not quite a fan of chocolate yet
the little one wasn't sure if
it was okay to tear the wrapper
and dig in.
Auntie told her it was
part of the initiation into
the club.
She is one of us now.

Enough already!

I've had it with winter.
I don't like to be cold,
shivering in my bones cold.
It's too cold to bring in
wood for a fire.
It's too cold to go outside
to take any photos.
It's too cold to go into
the garage to warm the car
to go anywhere.

I think I'll surf on over to
expedia and order our
tickets for some warm sunshine.

Arizona
here we come.
Don't worry John,
Glen will have the
tee time booked before you land.

otherwise engaged

not that long ago
i was aiming my
old minolta at my
son holding his ziplock
bag marked "Joey 3yr old class"
with his spiderman underoos
documenting his first day of pre-school.

here he is
many years and cameras later
posing for his engagement photos.

I'm so proud of the young man
he has grown into
and couldn't be happier
with the beautiful young girl
he is bringing into our family.

congratulations J & A.

Walk a Mile

You know the saying
"walk a mile in my shoes"?
I think that about people who
complain about the most miniscule things.
This is part of a statue of a woman
that represented strength
and determination to me.
When I looked at her feet
that's all I could think of.
The walk is never easy
for those who are strong
and full of determination.

Thank goodness for
pedicures!

is that me?

Another in the "self-portrait" series.
Now you know why I don't like my
photograph taken.
And I even did this one myself.
I call this one
"I'm outta here"

Let laughter in each day

Here is one that didn't make the show
but I felt compelled to share.
While I was shooting different angles,
looking for the right light,
trying to get the good stuff,
my daughter walked right into the shot,
stuck her finger into the nostril portal,
and said, "shoot now".
I shot and we laughed and laughed.
We seriously have a warped sense of humor sometimes,
my daughters and I.
The laughter is good medicine though.
So much for the artsy stuff.
This is one of my favs of the day.

Happy New Year!

Wishing you a very
happy and healthy
new year.

I hope to find a little
more serenity in 2007
instead of always finding
myself coming and going.

I'm going to work on that.
